Wealthy US teenagers have a new favorite watch

If you are young and don’t have to look at the price, you want an Apple watch. Almost one in three wealthy teenagers in the United States already has one.

The seventh edition of the Apple Watch was just coming out and experts were lacking the innovations there. Nevertheless, 10,000 teenagers pushed Rolex from the dream watch throne in a survey and named the Apple counterpart as a favorite for the first time. That is one of the results of the 42nd “Taking Stock with Teens“Poll by Piper Sandler. The participants in the study were on average 15.8 years old. The average household income is said to be 67,755 dollars, which corresponds to 58,711 euros. That is a little higher than the average income there.



Apple Watch and iPhone with market shares of over 80 percent

In relation to last autumn, the rate of smartwatch owners among those surveyed rose from 30 to 35 percent. In addition, 30 percent of them now own an Apple Watch, which is also an increase of five percent. The market share among young people who wear smartwatches is 86 percent. However, Apple is also ahead in other areas: 67 percent of the participants call Apple Airpods their own. 87 percent own an iPhone. Apple Pay ranks first among the digital payment models. There is only one more popular means of payment: cash.



Young people want to increase the Apple collection

In addition to the large number of teenage Apple owners, there are a similar number of teenagers who want to become one. 88 percent of the owners of an Android smartphone assume that their next model will be an iPhone. 15 percent said they plan to buy an Apple Watch – last year it was 13 percent. Of the 30 percent who use a fitness app, half use the Apple product.
