Vinted: a bad plan to sell cocaine?
The platform as a sales intermediary
This is information released by Nice morning : on March 24, the gendarmes arrested a man in his thirties in Roquebrune, in the Alpes-Maritimes. Monitored for several months by the intelligence services, he was suspected of maintaining a narcotics sales network through, in particular, the Vinted platform.
Good fishing for the gendarmes of Menton, who found in the man 300 grams of cocaine, 315 grams of cannabis resin, a 12 gauge rifle, a loaded 22 long rifle, ammunition, but also 4,370 euros in cash.
Vinted increasingly diverted
For the time being, the information does not let us know if this man only used Vinted in his network of sale and distribution of narcotics, or not. However, the fact that the platform is used as a cog in a narcotics ring is also unsurprising. More and more illegal uses of the site are identified, such as channels for the sale of counterfeits. To protect you from this, we have concocted a little guide for you.
Vinted is therefore often diverted, as in the much lighter case of this Spanish Erasmus student using the platform to send and receive personal business parcels at a lower cost. A case less serious than drug trafficking, but just as revealing of a slow drift of the platform.
To return to the Roquebrune affair, the man admitted the facts and was placed in pre-trial detention. Ten of his former clients were also heard by the police, for subsequent summonses. The judgment of the main suspect is set for May 5.
