Cases take away from the chic design of your iPhone
Apple invests millions of dollars every year to give the new iPhone a fresh look to give. Design is always the most discussed topic. On blogs and in comments under YouTube videos, you regularly read comments like: “What’s changed? It looks exactly the same as the previous one!” or “this is the most beautiful iPhone EVER!”
It is not surprising that the design of an iPhone stirs so many people. Based on the design, you can see which model you have in your hands. Brand new iPhone colors therefore usually sell better than standard versions such as white and black. Think, for example, of the ocean blue version of the iPhone 12 Pro. I hardly see other colors of the device on the street.
Although – I don’t really know how many people use the non-blue iPhone 12 Pros at all. Almost all iPhones I find in the wild are in cases. Yellowed ‘transparent’ pieces of plastic of a few euros and gigantic bullet-proof armor: you can think of it so crazy, or people disfigure their monthly wage-costing iPhone.
An iPhone is an object that can be seen
Isn’t it logical that people put cases on their iPhone? No one wants cracks, dents or other damage. Cracks are indeed a shame, but in the end you prevent them quite easily: just don’t drop your iPhone. Handle your belongings with care.
In addition, Apple puts a lot of effort into strengthening the iPhone housing. Thanks to techniques such as Ceramic Shield, the iPhone is becoming more and more resistant to drops and bumps. That is very reassuring and makes the use of an ugly case less and less ‘necessary’.
Then there are scratches. Small gullies in your screen, which you feel a bit when you run your nail along it. Are Scratches Limiting Your iPhone’s Functionality? New. Do you see the scratches when your screen is on? Well, no, neither. To what extent are they really bad? Your iPhone is a utensil, and that includes traces of use.
And if you find scratches really annoying, there are always glass screen protectors. They are virtually invisible and also offer extra fall protection. Once that screen protector is all scratched up, just replace it. A simple and effective solution that won’t ruin your iPhone’s design.
Beautiful covers do exist, but…
Not every case is ugly, of course. There are all kinds of unique, well-thought-out iPhone cases that actually add functionality. Think of cases with built-in external batteries or card holders.
However, these covers cost a lot of money and often become ugly quickly with normal use. They are usually made of plastic and plastic scratches very quickly. A lot faster even than the glass back of your iPhone, which you want to keep beautiful. And why actually? Thanks to a case, you can’t see the back anyway. Then there might as well be a few scratches on it.
Of course, the value of your iPhone will remain higher if it continues to look like new. In the context of the environment and money saving, this is a good reason to use a case. Not planning to sell your iPhone later? Then enjoy the beautiful design of your smartphone, handle it with care and please leave those ugly cases in the store.
