Apple: Pressure to open the App Store is growing

After the EU had already agreed on stricter regulation of mobile app stores with the Digital Markets Act, Apple is now increasingly being targeted in the USA. The local Ministry of Commerce spoke out with unusually clear words. Apple’s current model, which doesn’t allow for third-party app stores or sideloading of apps, the ministry believes “harmful for consumers and developers”.

Closed app stores would result in large corporations like Apple acting as gatekeepers for apps and enforce excessive prices could.
