Up to 2 million euros for the rare Rolex Deep Sea Special

We don’t have to explain to you that a Rolex can be worth a lot of money. However, it is not the case that every watch from the brand is worth gold. The cheapest models can be bought in used condition for several thousand euros. At the other end of the spectrum, you have the rarest and most expensive models. The models often have a legendary story attached to them.
Later this year, the Philips auction house is organizing an auction in Geneva. This very special Rolex Deep Sea Special will be sold there. The auctioneers expect a yield of between 1.2 and 2.4 million Swiss francs. That is converted a maximum of 2.1 million euros! This is a 1965 example with production number 35. It is said that only five of the Rolex Deep Sea Special have been sold publicly. The last time such a model was sold was in 2009, more than ten years ago.
The Deep Sea Special was part of Rolex’s testing and development in the 1960s. Later on, the ever-popular Submariner and Sea-Dweller series would emerge. The rest is history.
