Ubisoft has some nasty trick for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla DLC?

Ubisoft may be playing a dirty trick with deleted Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla DLC, but it might be a boon to the franchise…

It’s a tough time for game developers as they’ve had to work from home for the past few years. Ubisoft has reportedly devised a sneaky trick to make it all the way through the release dates. It concerns Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, downloadable content and a bit of polishing.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla DLC Will Be New Game?

According to anonymous sources, Ubisoft decided late last year that DLC for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla will be transformed into a completely new game. What would initially be extra paid content, according to Bloomberg, will soon be turned over several times to serve as a full game.

Not a shame in itself, as players may be done with the acclaimed AC: Valhalla. But to top it all off, the new game would revolve around the character Basim from Valhalla. So there will be no strictly new protagonist, but a character that has already been given a lot of attention in Valhalla.

Not surprising that, according to the sources, Ubisoft has planned a small Assassin’s Creed. So far, the worlds of the games full of cunning killers just kept getting bigger. Valhalla in particular was immense. The upcoming game, due out sometime this year or in 2023, should focus more on stealth action and a smaller-scale story.

Good direction anyway

If all that is true, then we should leave Ubisoft’s apparent stinginess for a while. To be fair, most fans will be done with yet another new setting, a huge map full of arbitrary jobs and an all-encompassing story full of Bible references and forced flashbacks.

As luck would have it, it might actually be good for the franchise to do something different. And if we get an overpriced Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla DLC less for that, then that’s a double win as far as I’m concerned.
