Top 10 most viewed Netflix content – Lupine part 2 dominates
The top 10 most viewed content on Netflix (the Netherlands) has been dominated by the French hit series since the release of Lupine part 2.
It’s always a mystery which show or movie will be a hit, including for Netflix. A relatively unknown story with a relatively unknown but sympathetic protagonist, set in France; it turned out to be the ingredients for a monster hit. We are of course talking about Lupine, part 2 of which appeared on Netflix earlier this month. Since its release, the series has dominated the eyeballs of consumers of the streaming service.
Lupine part 2 dominates Netflix
Lupine part 2 appeared on Netflix on June 11 and since then the series has invariably been in the top 10 of most popular content. To put that in perspective, the streaming service finally welcomed (the first episode of) Rick & Morty season 5. The wildly popular sci-fi show has a devoted fan base that has had to wait well over a year. Still, that fanbase couldn’t compete with Lupine’s mainstream appeal.
The series tells the story of master thief and professional gentleman Assane Diop. He is heavily inspired by the existing fictional character Arsène Lupine. Omar Sy (Intouchables) plays the lead role, which undoubtedly contributes to the success of the series. The fact that season 1 actually ended in the middle of the story with a massive cliffhanger also adds to its popularity.

Furthermore, Lucifer, Rick & Morty, The Last Kingdom and Elite recently received a new season. Those shows can also be found in the Dutch top 10 most popular Netflix content at the moment.
