Check the stock
Before you go shopping, go through your pantry well. Often there is even more in it than you think and you really don’t have to buy pasta or rice.
Market
Check on which days the market is in your area and do your shopping there. This is cheaper and often much tastier. Don’t buy more than you need, because that is again without the money and the food.
Cut your own vegetables
You may save time with pre-cut vegetables. But by cutting your vegetables yourself, you save money. Choose seasonal vegetables to have better quality.
Out of the freezer
Frozen vegetables contain as many vitamins as fresh vegetables, but are often much cheaper. Vegetables from jars or cans are often cheaper than fresh vegetables. But salt and/or sugar is often added to this.
Drinking water
During the week, drink mostly water, coffee and tea. Forget the soft drinks and alcohol for the weekend. Besides saving you money, it is also better for your health.
Check offers
View the brochures (online or by letterbox) to get an overview of which stores have the best offers at that moment.
Stick to the shopping list
Make a shopping list in advance and stick to it. Only buy the products that are on your list to avoid extra costs.
Schedule
At the beginning of the week, make a plan of what you want to eat that week so that you don’t have to go shopping every day, but you can do groceries for a whole week in one go. Often when you do your daily shopping you unconsciously spend a lot more.
