Tim cook wrote a letter to Joe Biden. Apple boss greets the new president of the United States and talks to him about immigration. Joe Biden has already changed a choice of Donald Trump who ended the DACA program (launched under the Obama era). It allows certain minor immigrants who entered the United States illegally to benefit from a two-year moratorium on their deportation and eligibility for a work permit.
Congratulations on your inauguration as president. On behalf of the Business Roundtable, I would like to congratulate you and express our appreciation for your executive action in preserving the protections of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) beneficiaries. We also want to thank you for making a permanent legal solution for DACA a priority in your first 100 days, an effort we deeply support.
We face many pressing issues today, whether it is a rabid pandemic, racial inequality, or an economic challenge. But in times of crisis, it is especially important that we stay true to our values. As we strive to unify our country and meet the many challenges that lie ahead, granting permanent legal status to Dreamers is an essential part of the much needed comprehensive immigration reform. and will help us live up to the highest ideals of our nation.
For our businesses, dreamers are invaluable members of our team. These are young people who represent the best of our country – a place where individuals, in all of our diversity, can come together to fulfill the American dream and build a better future for the next generation. They know America as their country and deserve the chance to pursue the same opportunities that this country has long favored.
Thank you for your leadership, your service to our country and your commitment to championing the dreamers of our nation. We look forward to working with you on this and many other issues, as we work to create a more innovative, fairer and more prosperous country.
