‘ZTE Axon 30 Pro is very first phone with 200 MP camera sensor’

ZTE has been in the spotlight in recent years mainly because of the problems it had with the US. That has now been adjusted and the focus is again on the phones, such as the ZTE Axon 20 5G: the first phone with a camera under the screen. With the Axon 30 Pro, ZTE would again have a ‘first’, this time in the field of megapixel numbers.

Although several manufacturers have indicated in recent years that they are working on phones with a camera under the screen, ZTE was the first to market a phone with the technology. It may not have been the most acclaimed selfie camera – selfies from the ZTE Axon 20 5G turned out to be very blurry – but ZTE did show it’s not afraid to ‘try things out’. With the upcoming Axon 30 Pro 5G, ZTE again wants to distinguish itself from the competition, according to a message on Weibo.

‘Spectra 580 ISP’

In the announcement of the launch of the ‘Axon 30 Pro 5G’, ZTE talks about the technology it will deploy for the high-end device. Not unexpectedly, the phone uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset: ZTE CEO Ni Fei confirmed this in a message in which he emphasizes the power of the chipset’s ISP (Image Signal Processor), the Spectra 580. Fei also emphasizes that his company will deliver “the most powerful camera system ever” with the Axon 30 5G and that the market will not be able to match this.

Ni Fei does not discuss in his message which camera sensor he will use for this. ZTE also released another post in addition to Fei’s message, highlighting that the ISP can support up to 200 MP cameras.

Rumor maker WHYLAB concludes based on these reports that ZTE plans to use a 200 MP camera on its upcoming phone. There is also speculation that it concerns the S5KGND sensor from Samsung: this sensor will have to be announced first.

Axon 30 Pro 5G launch

Take the rumors with the necessary grains of salt for the time being, given that it is also possible that they want to seduce consumers with all the possibilities that the Snapdragon 888 offers, without actually being used on the Axon 30 Pro 5G. When ZTE plans to launch the phone is also unknown. That prices will be higher than for the Axon 20 5G is certain. That device still used the Snapdragon 765G chipset that is made for midrange phones.

As we are used to from ZTE, it will first launch the phone in China before the phone is also available in the European market. Whether ZTE will release the Axon 30 Pro 5G in the Netherlands and Belgium will have to be seen after the launch. Are you hoping for the Axon 30 Pro 5G to come to the Benelux?
