The smartphone market is tough as a rock. Manufacturers are fighting hard to win over buyers. Above all, the question is: Which smartphone is the best, the number 1? Stiftung Warentest also wanted to know this and therefore organized an XXL comparison. 40 current models had to compete against each other, the price range was huge from around 150 euros to 1,250 euros. In the end there were a few surprises, because the industry giants Samsung and Apple didn’t always end up at the top.
Anyone looking for a new smartphone is spoiled for choice. Countless manufacturers and models vie for the attention and money of buyers. The Stiftung Warentest, which clears the smartphone jungle at regular intervals and offers some orientation with its tests, also knows this. In the latest August issue, the product testers put 40 current smartphones through their paces.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is the best smartphone according to Stiftung Warentest
Overall winner of the test was the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultrawhich was able to take the lead with the grade “Good (1.7)” (source: Stiftung Warentest). The Stiftung Warentest could not find any real defects in the current flagship smartphone of the South Koreans. Even more: The camera was particularly convincing. “Even zoomed ten times, image details can still be seen excellently,” the experts praised.
the Silver medal also went to Samsung with the Galaxy S22 Plus and a test rating of “Good (1.8)”. With average online prices of 1,250 euros and 1,050 euros respectively, the Samsung smartphones are anything but bargains. However, it is significantly cheaper Third place: the Google Pixel 6. At around 630 euros, it is a good half as expensive as the top seller, but is rated “Good (1.9)” by Stiftung Warentest and is only just behind the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Honor 50 is price tip, Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 lasts the longest
According to the product testers, the price tip is the Honor 50 for only 350 euros, which shines above all with its battery. The bottom line is that the Honor gets the grade “Good (2.0)”. Despite the praise for the battery of the Honor 50, however Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 the endurance runner in the test. According to Stiftung Warentest, the Xiaomi cell phone lasted almost 50 hours.
Good to know: Apple’s smartphone spearhead is not represented in the test. The iPhone 13 series has been on the market for too long for that. The recently introduced iPhone 14 (Pro) should then be put through its paces in a future comparison.
