Apple is launching the Apple Watch Series 9 with watchOS 10 this year. When will the update come to your Apple Watch and which watches will receive support for it?

Apple launches watchOS 10

Like every year, an update for your Apple Watch will also be released this year. Apple is presenting watchOS 10 this year, which is said to be the biggest update ever for your Apple Watch. According to the usually reliable Apple analyst Mark Gurman, the next version of the operating system for Apple’s watch will have “more improvements” and a “completely new interface”.

This fits with previous rumors, which predict that the Apple Watch Series 9 will not receive major hardware updates. The Apple Watch Series 9 will therefore look a lot like the current Apple Watch. Because the hardware update is going to be so minimal this year, Apple is focusing on the watch’s software. When can we expect watchOS 10?

New watchOS is announced at WWDC

The new version of watchOS 10 will most likely be officially unveiled during WWDC 2023. During this annual event, Apple presents software updates for almost all products. This year the conference will take place from 5 to 9 June. It is therefore expected that Apple will present watchOS 10 on June 5. The first beta of watchOS 10 will be released that day.

If we follow the timeline of last year’s watchOS 9, the second test version of watchOS 10 will be released between June 19 and 23. These test versions are intended for developers, so that they can get started developing apps. The public and final beta will then come between June 26 and June 30. The final version of watchOS 10 will follow on September 12.

So put September 12, 2023 in your calendar, because this is probably the date that you can install the new watchOS version on your watch.
