this is how you use the chat app for your notes and reminders

Androidworld reader Tom is a Telegram expert and once in a while explains why Telegram is so useful. This time he discusses using Telegram for your notes and reminders.

Using Telegram for your notes

You don’t often think of your chat app for taking notes, but everything is possible with Telegram. The Androidworld channel already has 300 followers, so there is definitely interest in the chat app. Now I will not say that this is the best solution for someone who takes a lot of notes because I have little experience with these kinds of apps, but Telegram works fine for me and it saves me an extra app. Eventually, this capability syncs across all my devices.

Now you can create a channel for notes and share with your family members in which you write down the messages, but in Telegram we also know the chat “saved messages”. You can send yourself messages here that you can change and/or delete indefinitely. There are three ways to create a note:

  1. Write a note
  2. Leave a note
  3. Send an edited photo or video

Then send the message with any necessary hashtags for the search or hold the send button and set a reminder for the message. At the moment you can plan one year in advance.

  1. Open the Saved messages via the side menu
  2. take note
  3. Tap send
  4. Press and hold the send button to set a reminder

Save links and record notes

My memories often consist of links to an article that I don’t have time to read at that moment: copying the link and scheduling it for when I do have time. Messages that I still want to keep after reading I add hashtags and forward them to a private channel.

When you are in the car, you can record your note with one push of a button, after which it will be sent automatically, then you can listen back to this note on all your devices at home and take the necessary actions. “Saved messages” is also a shortcut on my desktop.

Dictate in a private channel

If you prefer to dictate on a certain subject, it is preferable to use a private channel for this. If you record multiple voice messages, Telegram will play them one after the other and you can work out the story. When you slide the microphone button up, it is locked and you can record an entire meeting, but keep in mind that your screen will remain dimmed and will therefore use the necessary power.

After planning your first message, a new button will appear at the bottom of the screen, via this button you will find all messages that have been scheduled. You will also find this button in the regular chats if you have scheduled messages for this person. I use hashtags to find messages, but if you click on the top bar you will immediately see a subdivision in files, voice messages, links and the like.

Scheduling Message Improvements

It has now been 2 years since it became possible to schedule messages in Telegram. Now Telegram is not a note-taking app, but at the beginning of this year I made some suggestions to improve these reminders in a next update. If you think so too, I could use some thumbs up, maybe these suggestions will appear in a next update.
