Google Photos portrait blur
Portrait blur is a nice feature in Google Photos to give images of pets, food and flowers extra depth, for example. This feature in Google Photos is available to anyone with a Pixel phone and anyone with a Google One subscription.

The step-by-step plan below uses photos taken with different camera apps on different phones.
- Open the Google Photos app and select a photo taken in portrait mode
- Tap on To process
- Scroll to the Tools and tap Portrait blur
- Choose Fade
- Drag the slider to increase or decrease the depth. Here you can select a focus point on the photo.
You can click on step 5 if you wish Automatically tap to have Google Photos apply the blur automatically. In addition to fading, you can also choose Depth. You use this option to adjust which area of the photo is blurred.
