this is how you stream via AirPlay

You can currently watch Formula 1 in the Netherlands via Ziggo (Viaplay will have the rights from next season) or via the official F1 TV app. With the latter you can not only watch the races, but also follow the training sessions, for example. Extra cool is that you can stream the matches to your TV.

All you need is the official F1 TV app, an Apple device and a TV with AirPlay. check? Here’s how to watch matches on the big screen:

  1. Open the F1 TV app on your iPhone or iPad;
  2. Go to the match and choose which camera angle you want to view;
  3. Tap the cast icon at the top right of the screen to send the race to your television;
  4. VoilĂ , now you can enjoy F1 on your TV.

The quality of the streams is very nice. You watch the races in full-HD with a maximum of 50 frames per second. It used to be only 25 fps, which made the image look less smooth.

Free (for a while) for Ziggo Sport Totaal subscribers

To watch Formula 1 via your iPhone you need a subscription to F1 TV Pro. With this paid package you can watch live matches, you get access to all onboard cameras of cars and it is possible to watch the F2, F3 and Porsche Supercup. F1 TV Pro costs 7.99 euros per month, or 64.99 euros per year.

If you have a subscription to Ziggo Sport Totaal, you will receive F1 TV Pro for free for a while. Ziggo customers without the sports package still have to pay separately for the official Formula 1 app. As mentioned, Ziggo will lose the rights from next season. It is still possible to take out an F1 TV Pro subscription.
