this is how cool a new Apple TV could be
A few months ago, the usually reliable Bloomberg that Apple is working on a combination of the Apple TV and HomePod. A designer has now created a cool concept in which we find out what this ‘HomePod TV’ could look like.

Concept of the HomePod TV
Eric Huismann works as a designer at the Swiss website Handy Abovergleich and presents its HomePod concept on their website. Strictly speaking, there are even two concepts involved. There is a ‘HomePod TV Concept’ and the ‘HomePod Show Concept’, both targeting 2022.
The first concept is a premium HomePod that doubles as an Apple TV. This resembles a soundbar that is often part of the standard equipment of film enthusiasts these days. After all, the sound of today’s televisions is not really great.
However, the HomePod soundbar should offer even better sound than with most conventional soundbars, partly due to the support of Dolby Atmos and spatial audio. And of course, a HomePod/Apple TV successor also includes support for Siri.
Finally, the concept also includes a revised remote control. This already looks quite similar to the current model, with the nice addition of an LED ring in the well-known Siri colors. It lights up when you ask Apple’s voice assistant a question.
Concept of the HomePod Show
The second concept shows a so-called HomePod Show. Unlike the HomePod TV concept, the Show concept does not directly include Apple TV features. However, this HomePod version would have a Retina display and a 1080p camera, for example to make FaceTime calls. This functionality was also mentioned earlier by Bloomberg.
Furthermore, it is of course conceivable that such a HomePod can mirror its image to a TV. Finally, this HomePod concept also offers support for Dolby Atmos, spatial audio and Siri.

Both the Apple TV and the HomePod never really became big hits from Apple. The latter was not even available in the Netherlands or Belgium at all, and its development had already been stopped.
At least the Apple TV continued to receive modest updates, such as most recently during Apple’s spring keynote. However, we especially like the soundbar concept. So let’s hope Apple is indeed working on something similar, as the rumors suggest.
