Finding yourself in a debt trap and even with the mobsters, it can quite ruin the evening. The protagonist of the game, Thief Simulator, knows this and is forced to do their dirty work for a higher criminal league. However, he does not like it just like that, but in order to stand up to resistance, he must first stand on his own two feet.
From the game point of view, the game lives up to its name, so you can look forward to a whole range of burglars. And since the game does practically nothing else, it is clear that the theme … the redistribution of wealth, say, must be worked out to the proper depth. Your thief will first rummage through trailers and holes in the suburbs, which one would be reluctant to call home, but will gradually look into normal households, then luxury villas and finally industrial complexes.
The thief operation usually consists of several parts – first you need to find out what the inhabitants are doing. You play as a gripper, not a murderer or a rapist, and the game will not allow you to cause any non-property damage to other people. Therefore, it is ideal that no one catches you in your activity. You can try it at night when the housekeepers are usually asleep, or you can avoid the time when everyone is at work, for example. Just be careful not to overdo it and meet your mother from the family returning home in the evening between the doors with a TV under their arm.
You will steal everything possible, from an old toaster, through electronics, jewelry to even whole cars, which you can then disassemble into parts at home in the garage (by hand, bit by bit). This is accompanied by a number of different minigames and stealth mechanics, which become accessible over time and increase the complexity of the task. Classic unlocking of locked locks with several levels of difficulty is a matter of course, but in Thief Simulator you will eventually hack cameras, get to safes, drill car locks and the like. There is enough content.
Its design is a bit worse. Once everything is going according to plan, Thief Simulator is just as good fun as one would expect from it, but the game doesn’t understand much about crisis situations when someone comes to you. The police are properly exaggerated, they see you through the walls, they have a reaction and travel time of about ten seconds, and it is not advisable to play with it at all. Which is good, on the one hand, at least the developers are really pushing you into stealth, but the moment when you hide behind five men in the dark corner in front of the men of law and they run out for you without the slightest hesitation, the creators could forgive themselves.
Nice fun around and around, definitely not without a mistake, but whoever has a taste for a bit of the other side of the law and can close his eyes to the occasional stumbling, will not regret the purchase. And the game won’t burn your hole in your wallet either, it’s normally for twenty euros, but it is often possible to buy it at significant discounts.
