These taunts and winks at iPhone were in Google’s presentation

Google announced the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro this week, but did so with some ironic nods to Apple. In case you missed them, we list them again here.

Pixel presentation

Google’s biggest asset is probably the always-on functionality, where you can always consult certain information on your screen. Brian Rakowski of Google said: “Pixel has always been a leader in smartphone innovation and we see it as a compliment when others in the industry follow our path.” He was referring to that always-on display that was introduced on the Pixel 2 way back in 2017. Apple had quite the focus on that when the iPhone 14 was introduced last month.

In addition, Night Sight and astrophotography, for example, debuted on the 2018 Pixel 3, while it appeared on iPhone 11 a year later in the form of Night Mode. After that, Google talked about the car crash detection that has been on the Pixel 4 since 2019. Something that we’ve only been able to see with Apple products since last month. Of course, there was a section on RCS later, Rich Communication Services, which would mean a better way of communicating between Android and iPhone. However, Apple does not want it, so Google has started campaigns more than once to persuade Apple to implement this technology.

RCS

Google said: “RCS is the modern industry standard for messaging, and it has already been adopted by most of the industry. We hope that every device manufacturer understands the message and adopts RCS, so that texting becomes better for every smartphone user.” So far, Apple has not been willing to bite and we doubt that that will change: it seems to be quite certain. .

Of course, Google itself is certainly not sacred and often enough uses technological solutions that it first saw in others. But, especially if you’re watching a presentation like this and can’t wait to absorb information about the new Pixels, you may have missed these ironic nods to its major competitor.

What do you think: is it great that Google incorporates these kinds of things in its presentation, or do you not appreciate it that much? Leave it now in the comments to this article.
