How to enable instant subtitles on Android?
Since Android 10, it is possible to display subtitles on your smartphone. This feature allows you to discover the content of a video without disturbing people around, but it is also intended for the hearing impaired. All applications are compatible and it is possible to translate conversations on the fly.
The instant captions automatic messages on your Android device can display in text format on the screen what is coming out of the device’s speaker (or should be coming out if you have muted the sound). You can then watch a video without sound. The goal is also to allow a deaf person to have a telephone conversation, for example. Instant captions in Android
1/ In the accessibility options
On your device, go to Settings > Accessibility and activate Instant captions. Note that on Pixel devices, it is possible to activate or deactivate this function when you activate the volume button + or -… Just press the icon at the bottom of the sound slider.

2/ Parameters
Once the function is activated, Android will still warn you that the conversations are not saved… In Instant captionsyou will find other options below to avoid displaying profanity, to put sound labels ([rires], [bruit de klaxon]etc.) and to request permission to caption a telephone conversation.
3/ Subtitles during phone calls
When a correspondent will call you, his words will be transcribed and displayed on the screen. It’s very fast, the smartphone makes only rare errors and it is possible to translate the lyrics on the fly. A very interesting tool in many respects.
