the rise and fall (teaser)
The Canadian brand BlackBerry was once popular, but those days are behind us. The battle was lost to the iPhone and Android. A movie of its own is coming; the brand shares a teaser.
BlackBerry gets its own movie
There is a movie coming from the ever so popular BlackBerry brand. The manufacturer has confirmed this news, after earlier rumors about this. BlackBerry had its heyday years ago with devices with full keyboards and of course Ping.
The film about BlackBerry should show the rise of the Canadian brand, but also its downfall. The director would be Matt Johnson, while the lead roles are played by Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton; they play the founders and CEOs. The plan is that the film will also be based on the book about BlackBerry that was released in 2015.
The BlackBerry 9800 Torch
Attempts to return BlackBerry have been unsuccessful. This was done in 2016 by manufacturer TCL, but in 2020 the plug was pulled from that plan. A subsequent idea from OnwardMobility, which involved working on a new 5G smartphone with a physical keyboard, also failed to materialize.
BlackBerry shares a teaser of its own film. It is exactly the same video that appeared online in June, but now the brand also shares confirmation that this is a film from the company.
