‘The Pixel 6 camera can remove disturbing objects from photos’
In Google Camera it will soon be possible to take photos while ignoring disturbing objects. The feature is possible thanks to Google’s own tensor chipset, but we don’t know exactly how it will work yet. There are also more smart functions on the way.
‘Magic gum’
Google has already released a lot of information about the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro, and we know, among other things, that the devices come with a proprietary chipset called Tensor. The focus is on artificial intelligence, and we can also see that in an upcoming feature of the Pixel 6 that has already been leaked. The Magic eraser, or ‘magic eraser’.
The purpose of Magic eraser is that disturbing elements disappear from photos. This can be a passer-by in the background on a holiday photo, but also a fence that obstructs the image. You will probably have to mark the parts that need to be removed on the screen with an eraser. It’s just not clear yet whether Google Camera can filter these things out in real-time before you take the photo, or whether it springs into action after taking the photo. We expect the latter.
Remove Unwanted Object
Interestingly, Google had already teased a similar feature at Google I/O 2018 three years ago, but development was then paused so that the Google Photos team could focus on other things first. This Magic eraser and a series of others were discovered in the code of the Google Camera app on the Pixel 6. XDA Developers is in touch with someone who was already able to get their hands on such a prototype. To protect his anonymity, no images accompanying the leaks were published.
Even more camera functions
Another feature coming is the ability to manually adjust the white balance in the camera app, and there will also be an ability to sharpen out-of-focus faces in photos. Google is also going to introduce a ‘Timer light’. The LED flash blinks and counts down when you take a picture with the rear camera via the self-timer. A final notable feature is ‘Motion Blur’. You probably know photos that are out of focus because there is a lot of movement? Google wants to imitate that effect in an artistic way, but without having to sweat for it. Handsome isn’t it?
