‘The large group at our destination turned out to be on a sex holiday’

During the dinner together in that idyllic chambre d’hôte, Jelka and her then husband felt a bit watched, but that was probably their imagination, they thought.

Jelka (41), mother of Jules (12) and Esmée (10):

“I once booked a French chambre d’hôte in the Cevennes with my then husband. Very idyllic. The owner cooked fresh and organic every evening and anyone who wanted to was allowed to join.

The location turned out to be fully booked with a French party that – roughly 25 strong at that long, colorful table – soon realized that we were not French. We did feel a bit watched during the appetizer. But maybe that was just our imagination, we hoped.

In the taste

Until the end of the main course, one of the women whispered to her neighbor, “I do want her.” “We can take them both,” her husband replied. When I remarked in French that I was curious about where to go, they were shocked. It turned out to be a sex holiday, all rather 1970s.

“In the middle of the night we went for a sneak peek around the grounds”

Choking with laughter, and after I explained that we – just married – liked to keep it together, my ex and I sneaked to our sleeping place, to sneak a peek around the property in the middle of the night.”
