The flagship with Snapdragon 888 is coming to Europe

Chinese company Xiaomi unveiled its flagship in the Chinese market in December Xiaomi Mi 11, which was the first smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. Today, it introduced its global version, which will be intended for the European market, including Slovakia.

A display that will delight every mobile player

The body of the Xiaomi Mi 11 is again a bit more durable, thanks to the new tempered glass Gorilla Glass Victus. Last year’s Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra was the first to have it. The AMOLED display on the front is 6.81 inches and is curved at the edges, giving the impression of luxury. Xiaomi decided to radically increase the resolution to 3200 × 1440 pixels.

At the same time, Xiaomi is aware of the success of gaming smartphones, so he decided to meet the needs of mobile gamers with this novelty as well. They will certainly enjoy the refresh rate of 120 Hz and especially the response to touch up to 480 Hz. The maximum brightness is up to 1500 rivets. Traditionally, there is an integrated fingerprint sensor at the bottom, which can also be used to capture the heartbeat, and an upper left hole for a selfie camera.

Xiaomi Mi 11 got a camera sensor from Mi 10 Ultra

The camera’s resolution is 108 megapixels, which means that the Xiaomi Mi 11 uses the same sensor as last year’s flagship Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra. The brightness is at f / 1.85 and there is also optical image stabilization. The design of the camera module on the back has changed design. It has a round shape and the main sensor with a size of 1 / 1.33 inches is highlighted in white.

They feature a 13-megapixel ultra-wide and 5-megapixel macro sensor. Both cameras have an aperture of f / 2.4. The macro sensor has a focal length of 50 millimeters, which corresponds to 2x optical zoom. The recorded video can have up to 8K resolution and the new Super Night mode will help it at night. The manufacturer also highlighted support for shooting HDR 10+ videos at the presentation.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 adds a maximum of 8 GB of RAM

The latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset takes care of the operation of the Android 11 system with the MIUI 12.5 extension. It is manufactured using a 5 nm production process, has an integrated 5G modem and its performance is 20% higher than in the previous generation. It is complemented by 8 GB LPDDR5-3200 RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB UFS 3.1 internal memory.

Unfortunately, the version with 12 GB of RAM will not be sold in Europe, which is the first and probably the only change compared to the Chinese model. But Harman Kardon stereo speakers are sure to please. The battery with a capacity of 4600 mAh can be charged via a USB-C connector with a power of 55 W or wireless charging with a power of 50 W. The system is Android 11 with the MIUI 12.5 extension.

The European market will not lack a charging adapter in the package

This year, Apple’s iPhone 12 smartphones launched the trend of missing charging adapters in the package. The official reasons are ecological. According to Apple, users have old chargers at home, which they allegedly throw away with or use with the new model. But the truer reason will probably be lower costs. Xiaomi has decided to take the same step in the Chinese version of the Xiaomi Mi 11. Fortunately, this is not the case for the European market version.

The 55 W adapter can be found in the package with the USB-C charging cable. The advantage of the adapter is that with its compact dimensions, it can also charge a classic notebook. There will be two color versions – gray and blue. The price of the Xiaomi Mi 11 on the European market will start at 749 euros, depending on the size of the memory. Under the two-year warranty, the customer will be entitled to one free replacement of broken glass for the first year. The novelty will go on sale on February 25. However, it will not be available in Slovakia until March 18.

What is the competition like?

The Xiaomi Mi 11 will compete in the European market mainly with the Samsung Galaxy S21 series smartphones, which were the second devices with the Snapdragon 888 chipset on the market. However, these smartphones are sold on the European market with the Samsung Exynos 2100 chipset. You can find a comparison of these two chipsets in our article.

Xiaomi Mi 11 could also attract customers from the Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Huawei P40 Pro smartphones. Its main competitive advantage is certainly pre-installed Google applications, which Huawei models cannot have due to the ban of the US Department of State.

An alternative to the Xiaomi Mi 11 are certainly the Sony Xperia 1 II, Motorola edge or OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones.
