The end of the graphics card crisis? Intel’s plan gives PC gamers hope again
Graphics cards from AMD & Intel are still in short supply and are therefore sold at extortionate prices on the open market. But Intel is already in the starting blocks, wants to cause quite a stir in this segment and has set itself very high goals.

The graphics card market is currently dominated by two companies: Nvidia and AMD. But the demand for new hardware is currently so great that the two companies are unable to serve it due to the chip crisis. The result: extremely high graphics card prices.
But with a bit of luck, that could soon change. Because Intel would also like to enter the graphics card market and could provide appropriate relief and thus lower prices – provided the company manages to to mass-produce its upcoming ARC graphics cards.
However, Raja Koduri, chief developer of Intel’s graphics card division, seems convinced that Intel is up to the task, as a recent tweet shows:
“@IntelGraphics is working hard to find a path to that goal – putting millions of ARC GPUs into the hands of PC gamers every year.”

When are the new Intel graphics cards coming?
It was originally assumed that the new Intel cards would be launched as early as January 2022 – but nothing came of it. There is no official release date yet, but the Intel website still states that that the ARC graphics cards should be released in the first quarter of 2022 (Source: intel).
However, it remains to be seen whether Intel can realize its plans and manage to manufacture this large number of GPUs and distribute them to PC gamers. Although Intel relies on a 6nm manufacturing process for its desktop graphics cards, which may open up new production capacities in contrast to the competition – but whether that alone is enough, nobody can say at the moment.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed that the launch of Intel graphics cards will cause some movement on the market again and trigger a real price slide. But we only believe that when we can really see it in the price development.
