The best 55 inch TVs of 2022
Large enough for decent home cinema, but still within a reasonable range in terms of price: The television size class with a 55-inch screen diagonal strikes the golden mean. We introduce you to the best models of 2022.
A screen diagonal of 55 inches corresponds to the equivalent 139.7 cm. The width of the image is around 122 cm, depending on the model, and the height is around 69 cm. A few years ago, these were still values used to describe a “giant television”, nowadays it is probably the most popular size class. This can be seen clearly in the impressive selection of models: from the entry-level series to the premium line – the 55-inch variant is almost always included.

Hisense 55A6GG (model year 2022)
Let’s start with a model for bargain hunters: The Hisense 55A6GG (check it out on Amazon) is a popular and cheap entry-level TV at Amazon, which has a lot to offer for around 430 euros. Above all, it should be noted that it is a high-resolution 4K TV with 3,840 × 2,160 pixels and not a Full HD model, as is still the case in the lower price ranges. This is also not a “no-name television” – because even if Hisense is still in the shadow of well-known manufacturers in this country – the Chinese company is currently measured by market share fourth largest TV manufacturer of the world (Source: Statistics).
The equipment is exemplary for the price range. With HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision the important HDR standards are supported. There are 3 HDMI inputs (but only HDMI 2.0) available, as well as 1× USB 3.0, Ethernet and a headphone output. Instead of the widespread Android TV, an in-house development by Hisense is used as the operating system VIDAA Called U5 and based on Linux. You have to do without individual apps, with Netflix, Amazon Prime and recently too Disney+ but the trio of the most important providers is represented as an app (see also List of VIDAA partners).
Compromises have to be made in the entry-level class: The case of the Hisense 55A6GG is neither slim nor particularly high-quality, the picture and sound quality cannot compete with premium TVs and the panel is limited to a refresh rate of 60 Hz. In other words: hardcore gamers and discerning cineastes prefer to look around in higher price ranges. But if you want to buy a “good enough” television on a small budget, the Hinsense can be shortlisted.

Samsung The Frame 2022 (GQ55LS03BAUXZG)
What began in 2017 is now a success story in a not entirely unimportant niche: televisions that look good. Of the Samsung TheFrame 2022 (check it out on Coolblue) looks like a work of art at first glance – especially when there’s a painting on the matt display (low-reflection) is displayed. The design concept is supplemented with interchangeable edges (Changable frames) that are attached magnetically. The transparent cable (“One Cable Solution”) transmits power and data without being noticed.
Technically, The Frame is one QLED-4K TV (not to be confused with OLED). Unlike Samsung’s Neo QLED televisions, no mini-LEDs are used here, which ensure better contrasts there. The refresh rate is 100 Hz – a good value, but not a top value. Samsung relies on its own operating system Tizen OS. Matching The Frame, Samsung offers the 3.1.2ch Ultra Slim Soundbar HW-S811B (check it out at Samsung) that supports Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X.
Overall, The Frame is not a case of “the most technology for the money” – other models have a more attractive price-performance ratio (e.g. Samsung Neo QLED 4K QN90A with mini-LED at Amazon). But if you take the unique design and the matte surface into account, then there is hardly an alternative to Samsung’s work of art. In his niche he is the best.

Disadvantages:
Panasonic TX-55JXW944
It doesn’t always have to be Samsung or LG. Even if the South Korean manufacturers dominate the sales charts, other brands are far from left behind. An example is the Panasonic TX-55JXW944 (view at Saturn), which combines a well thought-out selection of features and a fair price. The Stiftung Warentest gave it an overall grade of 2.1 (“good”).
The 4K television supports all important HDR standards with HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HLG. The television supports HDMI 2.1 with variable frame rate (VRR), the panel works natively at 100 Hz. The smart TV operating system used is “My Home Screen” from Panasonic, which comes with apps for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ , Rakuten TV, YouTube and more.
Numerous test reports attest to the Panasonic TX-55JXW944 good picture quality With natural colors and one good movement representation. A solid performance for a conventional LC display, which can play to the advantage of the high radiance compared to OLED models, especially during the day. The sound is sufficient for TV programs – but as is so often the case with the Panasonic TX-55JXW944, an additional soundbar is recommended for rousing home cinema sound.
