The 4 Best iPhone Apps, Games, and Updates of the Week (# 20

Two great apps have come to the iPad and the gyms are open again, so you may need a good sports app. You can check that and more in this weekly overview of the best iPad and iPhone apps, games and updates.

Read on after the ad.

Divinity: Original Sin 2

The award-winning game Divinity: Original Sin 2 was released for the iPad last week. The game was not transferred just like that; the team worked for two years to optimize the tablet version. Developer Larian Studios therefore promises to offer exactly the same experience as when you play the game on a PC.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is an RPG. So you are working through a storyline, defeating enemies and upgrading your character. Extra cool is that you play Divinity with a team. Fighting is in turns, so you need to move your teammates tactically across the battlefield. If you like RPGs, Divinity is a must play.

2. Halide Mark II

Another hit that came to the iPad this week. Halide Mark II is our favorite iPhone app for taking photos and is made by a Dutchman. Since last week you can also use the photo app on the iPad. The app is therefore ideal for people who have bought the new iPad Pro 2021 (with greatly improved cameras).

Halide Mark II has been completely redesigned so that everything works well and easily on the larger iPad screen. For example, the main control buttons are on the sides of the screen. The larger display is also optimally used when editing (RAW) photos. You can try Halide for free for seven days and an annual subscription costs 13.49 euros.

3. Timed

Now that the gyms are open again, it’s time to work up a sweat again. The new iPhone app Timed helps with this. The app is ideal for people who do interval training. For example, you are very active running, lifting weights or pulling up for 60 seconds, and then puffing out for 20 seconds.

Timed helps you keep track of your interval training. We especially like the minimalist design: the app emphasizes what matters. In addition to keeping track of training sessions, you can also create entire training schedules and, for example, indicate how many minutes you always train. Timed also has a handy Apple Watch app.

4. Smart Photo Widget

Since iOS 14, iPhone users can get started with widgets, or expanded versions of apps on the iPhone home screen. One of the most popular widgets is without a doubt that of the Photos app. Unfortunately, this widget is still pretty dumb and the new Smart Photo Widget app is about to change that.

This app turns photos into exactly the right size and aspect ratio on the iPhone home screen. The standard photo widget does not succeed, and for example cuts off snaps to make them fit in the frame. You can also have Smart Photo Widget display the time and location of the displayed photo, for example. The app also works on Mac and iPad and costs 2.99 euros per year, or 10.99 euros once.
