You can share everything about your real-time location such as your expected arrival time, your route and of course your exact location. You can share this with a contact person, but also via a link in an app such as WhatsApp, Messenger or Google Chat. The last option is used if you want to send your location to someone who doesn’t have a Google account. Sharing with a WhatsApp or Telegram call is also possible in this way. - Add his or her Gmail address to your Google Contacts, if you haven’t already
- Open the Google Maps app on your Android phone or tablet
- Tap your profile picture and then Share location > share with someone
- Select the contact and tap Parts
- Choose how long you want to share your location and tap again Parts
You can enter a certain time in step 5 or choose to switch off yourself. For the last option, follow steps 1 and 2 and tap the profile of the person you no longer want to share your location with. Then tap that Fuses.
- Open the Google Maps app on your Android phone or tablet
- Tap your profile picture and then Share location > share with someone
- To copy the “Share location” link, tap Copy to clipboard
- Paste the link in a message in your email, SMS or any other messaging app and send the message
People who have this link can view your real-time location for as long as you want, up to 72 hours.
