Taking a screenshot becomes more privacy-safe in Android 14

Android 14 is in its second version of the beta and several people have already started looking for innovations in it. So is Android expert Mishal Rahmanwho discovered that making a screen recording will soon be safer for privacy.

Take screenshots

Here at Androidworld we deal with it regularly: you just make a screenshot for an article, and then a pop-up comes along from someone who doesn’t necessarily belong on the screenshot. That’s not pretty, but it’s also not always good for someone’s privacy. Of course, this does not only happen to us when we want to improve an article with images, it also happens when you want to send someone a screen shot of your ex’s Facebook profile, that list of groceries for that one recipe or with the poster of a party where you would like to go.

Enough reasons to send screenshots, but that can be done more securely. We see that in Android 14. You can now apply a screen recording to a single app or hide sensitive information such as notifications as long as you are in recording mode. If you want to make a recording for one app, you will first see a list of your recently used apps (although a complete list is also available). Your screen is black in the screenshot when you exit the app. Pretty stylish.

If you choose the option not to see any notifications, you will not even see a status bar in the screen recording and to be honest, that is actually much nicer. This way the focus remains more on what you want to record.

Android 14 beta

If this doesn’t sound all that new to you, you can. While it’s new for standard Android, there are certain variants of Android that also have all sorts of privacy options for your screenshots. The most famous example is probably Samsung’s OneUI. Good that Android has now also been working on this for even better screen recordings.

Do you often take screenshots? Of what, for example? Leave it now in the comments.
