Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the sequel to Fallen Order, is made official with a 2023 release
Respawn Entertainment has officially announced Star Wars Jedi: Survivorthe new game which is the sequel to Fallen Order. A first trailer was released during the Star Wars Celebration.
Formalization of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
The trailer of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor shows the return of Cal Kestis, the surviving Padawan of Order 66 from Fallen Order, along with the Grand Inquisitor and what appears to be a mysterious potential ally in a Bacta vat. According to Respawn, Cal Kestis’ next trip to the Star Wars galaxy will take place five years after the events of Fallen Order. This also corresponds to the period of the series Obi-Wan Kenobi which debuted yesterday on Disney+. Can we imagine a Cal Kestis cameo in one of the episodes?
Cal, and his little droid BD-1, will always be pursued by the Empire and will be part of the last Jedi. The new game “will develop the series’ dynamic combat in innovative ways”said Electronic Arts in a statement. Also, Cal will learn new skills and develop his bond with the Force.
Stig Asmussen, who is once again the director of the game, explains that even before finishing Jedi: Fallen Order, “our team had a vision of how to continue the adventure for Cal, BD and the team in the sequel”. For this new episode, “We are working closely with Lucasfilm Games to build on the legacy of Jedi: Fallen Order. We’re leveraging cutting-edge technology to create more dynamic Jedi combat and cinematic storytelling to develop the story of Cal as he grows and survives through the dark times.”.
A release in 2023 on new consoles
The release date for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is 2023, there is not a specific day and month at the moment. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. As we can see, there will be no edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, unlike the first game.
It’s a shame for those who have the consoles of the previous generation. But at the same time, players who have the new models know that Respawn Entertainment will actually be able to harness the power of consoles, which is a good point.
