Sony Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III get an update to Android 12

After Samsung and Nokia, the next manufacturer has now started updating to Android 12. Sony has prepared the update to Android 12 for two of its devices. The update can be downloaded for the Sony Xperia 1 III and the Sony Xperia 5 III.

Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III: update to Android 12

After Samsung has rolled out the update for quite a few devices, and Nokia has also prepared the update for two models, it is now Sony’s turn. The update to Android 12 is now being rolled out for the Sony Xperia 1 III and the Sony Xperia 5 III. This update brings a lot of new Android 12 functions to the device, and the December 2021 security update is also included.

Google has provided Android 12 with a lot of improvements and new functions. From now on there is the interface; where colors adapt to the colors of the set background. There is also a privacy dashboard, with which you can now adjust even more settings around your privacy. For example, you can indicate that apps do not see your specific location, but an estimate of the location. Users can also take longer screenshots by default, although this was already made possible by some manufacturers. Furthermore, it should be possible to lower the brightness in Android 12 so that it makes it even more pleasant to use the device. Sony highlights the information on its page.

The update is being rolled out in phases at Sony, which means that it may take a while until every user sees the new Android 12 update on his or her device. If this is the case, you will receive a notification on your phone. Optionally, you can always manually check for software updates in between via the settings menu.
