Some Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra phones are experiencing GPS issues

Several people who have bought a new Samsung Galaxy 22 Ultra cannot use their smartphone properly. It appears that a number of devices have GPS problems. Also devices in the Netherlands, according to a tip we received from the editors.

GPS problem

The problems occur immediately when the device is started up for the first time, or after a day. Even after certain updates, the problem persists: a GPS not working. That is inconvenient, for example, when you want to use Google Maps or Tinder: apps that have everything to do with your location, because that is what the GPS function is for (GPS means Global Positioning System).

On a Samsung forum you can read that people are trying everything to get rid of the problem. Sending error reports to Samsung doesn’t seem to work so far. In any case, it seems to be a problem with the device itself and not with apps that need GPS. There are people for whom it helps to reset the APN settings.

You do this by going to Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names, tapping the three dots and choosing ‘reset’. You do the same at Settings > About Phone > Reset Network Settings. Restart the device if necessary and the problem may be solved.

In any case, it is a problem that is not known worldwide or for which Samsung has already made an official announcement. It is hoped that it will be limited to a handful of phones. It is not clear whether this only occurs with the Ultra devices or also with other types of Samsung Galaxy S22.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and do you run into these problems? Or even with another S22? Leave it in the comments.

Thank you, Rolf!
