Shopify merchants will soon be able to operate mini-shops directly on Tiktok
The social media phenomenon Tiktok and the e-commerce platform Shopify are intensifying their cooperation. Shopify merchants should soon be able to sell products directly in Tiktok.
Social commerce is on the rise. Dealers cannot ignore this. The Shopify platform now wants to enable its retailers to generate more sales using in-app shops on Tiktok. However, this is currently still a test with selected Shopify retailers.
With the new “Tiktok Shopping” offering, select merchants from the US, Canada and the UK are able to use a new shopping tab and product links to sell products from Shopify storefronts. The shopping tab is basically just part of a Tiktok profile that will contain a scrollable list of products that can be clicked through to go directly to the retailer’s Shopify window. In addition, the so-called product links should make it possible to link directly to a product from a Tiktok post.
The new shopping features require a Tiktok for Business account and a Shopify storefront. According to Shopify, the shopping tab and product links will initially only be activated for retailers in the US, UK and Canada in the coming weeks. The function will then be rolled out in other countries in the coming months.
Shopping on Tiktok makes sense for both the service and the trader. After all, formats are conceivable here, as they are already known from the various shopping channels – short, crisp advertising videos in an endless video stream with a shop front.
