Tactical Combat Department – -apkrig

If we lack a single game genre in today’s extensive offer, it is probably the one represented by the SWAT series. We return here and there to her brilliant fourth work from 2005, but it would like something modern. In a way, this requirement will be met by a Slovak developer acting as LukasH, who has been developing the Tactical Combat Department’s turn-based strategy himself since 2017.

Of course, it’s not the SWAT, because it’s not an FPS, but a strategy that you look at from above. But otherwise it has everything you would expect from such a title. You will proceed carefully with your elite unit, shove the cameras under the door to find out what is behind them, break out the door, blind or immediately shoot the suspects, arrest those who survive your intervention, address the morale of civilians and so on.

Judging by the footage from the games, which you can see above, great emphasis is placed on exploring areas occupied by enemies. Thanks to fog of war, you don’t see anything at all at first, but once you get to a window with one of your members, for example, the interior of the room will no longer be a secret for you. However, the location of its inhabitants does, if it disappears from view.

The Tactical Combat Department obviously does not do any complexity. The individual actions of the intervention unit consume the action points of each individual, so you have to consider how far to run and when to finally open the door, so that you are still able to take action for the remaining points.

The fact that the game consists of a single developer, who also changed from a purely top down view to a full-fledged 3D during the development, the game looks really decent. The chance to play it is fast approaching as the Tactical Combat Department enters preliminary access on Steam on October 14. It is expected to be completed in the next six months. We will keep our fingers crossed!
