Second generation AirPods Pro has new functionalities
According to several analysts, the second generation AirPods Pro will have useful new functionalities.
The new AirPods Pro are expected to see the light of day in the fourth quarter of 2022. According to noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s second-generation AirPods Pro will support Lossless audio. But also have a charging case in addition. It can emit a sound for location tracking.
Second generation AirPods Pro
MacRumors managed to get hold of a note addressed to investors. In that note, Kuo explains the new AirPods will come with support for Apple Lossless (ALAC) audio. And coming with a charging case, it allows users to activate a sound to mark the location.
This charging case with sound will most likely be integrated into the Find My app. This is similar to how users can currently play a sound from their individual AirPods in the case to help find them. There have been leaked photos of the next-generation AirPods Pro before. These showed a charging case with speaker holes.
All of Apple’s current AirPods products, including the third-generation AirPods AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, do not support Lossless audio. This is because AirPods play audio over Bluetooth. Because of this, they are limited to the AAC codec. So that is about to change. Most audio compression techniques lose some of the data in the original source file. Lossless compression is a form of compression that preserves all of the original data. The result is better quality.
Design
The note also states that the earbuds will have a new design. Kuo still believes that AirPods can support health functions in the future. However, he did not directly associate this rumor with the second generation AirPods Pro.
