Sony Ericsson Z320i from 2007

Every week we discuss a phone or smartphone that was released years ago. Today it’s time to look back at the Sony Ericsson Z320i. This clamshell appeared in 2017 in different colors.

Sony Ericsson is nowadays known as ‘Sony’ without the addition Ericsson. Years ago, successful telephones were regularly released. It is now less successful for Sony to sell devices so easily. In 2007, the manufacturer released the Sony Ericsson Z320i. We discuss them in this edition of ‘The forgotten telephone’.

The Sony Ericsson Z320i was a clamshell device with rounded corners. On the outside there was a black band with LED indicators inside. These could light up with an incoming call, a new message or something else. Folded open there is a 1.8 inch screen with a resolution of 160 x 128 pixels. The keys were on the bottom part. There was a browser shortcut above the navigation key. Internet with the Z320i did demand a lot from your patience; there was only GPRS support. This was also very expensive at the time with providers. In addition, the device could not handle large websites. A media player was missing from the device.

Sony Ericsson Z320i

The factory provided the device with a 1.3 megapixel camera. Users do report problems with the phone not vibrating loud enough, and the ringtone not ringing very loud either; which was inconvenient in noisier environments.

The Sony Ericsson Z320i came to the Netherlands in 2008. The price was around 110 euros.
