Samsung shares details about its own January update; 20 proprietary patches for One UI

Samsung has already distributed the January security update for the first few devices. More devices will follow in the coming weeks. In addition to the patches from Google, Samsung itself has also addressed the necessary vulnerabilities; they are now highlighted by the manufacturer.

If there is one brand that has recently made progress with the update policy, it is Samsung. The manufacturer provides even the cheapest devices with updates on a regular basis. In the near future we are expected to see a lot of messages about the January update. On Thursday we already wrote that the update is available for the Galaxy S21 series. Google itself, with the help of partners, is already tackling dozens of vulnerabilities in Android, manufacturers themselves are also taking the broom through the corridors.

Samsung says that with the January security patch, about twenty issues will also be addressed from them. In total, this concerns twenty specific Samsung patches. These relate to different matters. For example, we see in the announcement that weak spots have been closed in the connections via NFC and WiFi. A vulnerability has also been found in the Phone app and in Knox’s own security section. Closing ‘Secure Folder’ should also run better. Under some circumstances, the application could not close properly. Samsung has also addressed a few other issues.
