Samsung is one of the leading companies when it comes to developing new displays for smartphones. From year to year better and more efficient screens are built into the company’s high-end models. With the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Samsung has made a big step forward with the “Eco² OLED” display and promises one Energy savings of up to 25 percent (Source: Samsung). Since the screen in mobile devices is still the largest consumer of energy, this should ensure a noticeably longer runtime.
Samsung has not only made small adjustments to the “Eco² OLED” display, it has also basically changed the structure. So far the display consists of three components. Samsung has that OLED panel combined with the polarizer layer and so made the “Eco² OLED” panel. The UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) remains as the second layer. The new construction not only saves energy, it also increases contrast and reduces reflections. This is particularly important for the sub-display camera used in the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
