Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: new renders and dimensions
It will probably be announced in August, the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. However, some details have already been leaked here and there about the device and now renders and dimensions are added via SmartPrix.
Galaxy Z Fold 5
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is probably 13.4mm thick when folded, which means it’s considerably thinner than the Fold4, which is 15.8mm thick. The hinge also appears to be put together differently. It is more subtly concealed in the device and you may therefore be able to close the device a little more smoothly. The small crack you see on the folded Fold4 should be gone with that. It would also immediately explain why the Fold 5 is thinner when folded.
The three cameras look different. They are now placed in a camera island with the flash next to it. In addition, there do not seem to be any huge changes compared to the predecessor. The dimensions of the device are 154.9×129.9×6.3mm (unfolded) and 154.9×67.1×13.4mm (folded). The Fold4 measures 155.1×130.1×6.3mm unfolded and 155.1×67.1×14.2-15.8mm when folded. Both also have an equally large 7.6-inch screen. We also see that the edges are somewhat rounded. But: it doesn’t seem to get more exciting than all this for the time being.
Successor
We don’t think that’s necessarily a disaster, because we were very pleased with the predecessor. This is what we wrote in our review of the Galaxy Z Fold 4: “Samsung rightly calls its phone a “multitasking powerhouse”. That’s what he is too. The split-screen mode works better on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 than on the average Android tablet. The taskbar and Edge window make it very easy to use this phone with the apps that are important to you. But even in addition to those smart tricks for multitasking, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has also simply become a better smartphone. The battery lasts much longer and the camera has also received a major upgrade.”
Incidentally, it is not yet certain that these rumors are correct or that Samsung will present the announcement in August: it is possible that the Korean company will bring forward the release of the device, SmartPix says.
