Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 receive One UI 5.1: 21 new features

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series now receives the One UI 5.1 update, or the new software of the Galaxy S23. There are new camera functions, handy features for Spotify users and many more novelties. We sum it up for you.

Samsung rolls out One UI 5.1

If you use a phone from the Galaxy S22 series or have a Galaxy Z Fold 4 or Galaxy Z Flip 4, you can expect the One UI 5.1 update from now on. The update is currently being rolled out in the Netherlands and Belgium, a reader of Androidworld reports to our editors. You get a package of new functions that has been introduced with the new Galaxy S23 series.

The update has firmware version S90xBXXU3CWAI and takes up approximately 2 GB. Below we list all the improvements that are available with this new version.

Camera and gallery

• Color filters for selfies: accessible via the camera app’s new ‘Effects’ button.
• Expert Raw: special camera features RAW photography, found in the More tab of the camera app -> Read more about it here.
• The search bar in the Gallery now lets you search for multiple people and topics at once. Tap a face to see more photos of that person.
• Remaster images: Enhance images by removing shadows and reflections.
• Shared family album: Family members are recognized and the Gallery app recommends adding photos of family members to the shared family album.
• New layout for photo info display.

Multitasking

• Minimize app windows or make them full screen: works with a new gesture, by dragging the windows in a corner.
• Split screen: your phone now recommends your most used apps in split screen.
• Multistasking in DeX: Now lets you more easily resize app windows by dragging.

Weather

• New interface: New layout of the weather app that shows important info first.
• Rain chart with expected rainfall per hour.
• Whonor widget shows an overview of current weather conditions.

SamsungInternet

• Continue browsing on another Galaxy device with the page where you left off.
• Improved search function: recognizes the names of tab groups and does not suffer from misspellings as a search term.

Other improvements

• Battery widget: Shows the battery level of your other Galaxy devices.
• AR Emoji Cam: Add up to three emoji to faces using Mask mode.
• Settings show suggestions at the top for functions.
• Spotify widget: now shows song and playlist suggestions based on your current activity. For example, spot music during a workout.
• Now choose the save location for screenshots.
• Choose a background based on your activity: for example, one for work, sports or other situations.
• Routines: New actions to adjust Quick Share and touch sensitivity, change the ringtone, or choose a different font.

Update your Samsung

You can see the update in a notification on your phone. Tap it to update your phone. On the other hand, you can also manually check for updates. That works through: Settings -> Software Update -> Download and Install. Samsung’s One UI 5.1 update is also coming to other phones from the brand. This has already been leaked.
