Galaxy Z Flip 5 gets a large cover screen
In our review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 you can read that the small 1.96-inch cover screen could have been a bit larger. The Cover screen widgets can also be improved a lot, partly due to the small screen. It looks like Samsung has taken our advice to heart. At the beginning of this year, the first message appeared about a large cover screen for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and we can now add renders to it.
According to the rumor monger SuperRoader Samsung’s new folding phone will have a 3.4-inch cover screen that covers almost the entire front. That screen would then be larger than the 3.26-inch of the OPPO Find N2 Flip. It doesn’t stop there, SuperRoader thinks that there will be a second cover screen on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, in addition to the cameras. That smaller screen shows the clock, battery percentage and AR emoji.

The second cover screen has an almost square screen and an aspect ratio of 1:1,038, according to Ice Universe). That format is especially useful for viewing notifications, quick settings, and Cover Screen widgets without opening the phone. To view these things on the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the undersigned regularly had to open the phone. Such a square screen can also offer more options as a viewfinder. Maybe even apps could be opened on it.
According to Sammobile, the foldable will have flat edges on the sides and can be folded completely closed, with no gap between the two halves of the device. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 would also get an almost invisible fold, a larger primary camera sensor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processor and a longer battery life.
Availability
Samsung’s foldable phones are expected this summer, sometime in August. Nothing is yet known about a precise launch date and an expected price for the devices. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 came on the market last year for 1099 euros and you pay 1799 euros for a Galaxy Z Fold 4.
