Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 finally gets a large cover screen
Samsung opts for a much larger cover screen on its Galaxy Z Flip 5 this year. The second screen will be larger compared to the OPPO Find N2 Flip. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected this summer.

Samsung takes steps forward every year with its two foldable phones, the Z Fold and Z Flip. Still, there is a point of criticism with the second one that comes back in every review, namely the small screen at the back. That 1.96-inch size makes that screen less useful than it could be. Samsung wants to change that this year, writes the well-known rumor spreader Ice Universe on Twitter. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 gets a large cover screen. We don’t know the exact size, but the screen will be larger than the 3.26-inch screen on the back of the OPPO Find N2 Flip. That is OPPO’s foldable phone that was recently presented in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Still, more is needed than just a larger screen on the back, as we also expect Samsung’s One UI shell to enable more useful functions for the second screen. For example, the Motorola Razr 2022 can open certain apps on the 2.7 inch screen on the back and Motorola has developed a custom user interface for this.

More has recently been leaked about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which will be launched together with the Z Flip 5 this year. The Z Fold 5 gets an integrated S Pen this time and the device also works with a wider main screen. The latter is also a much-requested improvement.
Finally, we also know that Samsung is coming with a new hinge, making the fold in the screen less visible. It remains to be seen whether the Z Flip 5 can also benefit from that technology.
Availability
Samsung’s foldable phones are expected this summer, sometime in August. Nothing is yet known about a precise launch date and an expected price for the devices. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 came on the market last year for 1099 euros and you pay 1799 euros for a Galaxy Z Fold 4.
