Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric boasts Android Automotive

As early as 2018, Renault confirmed that as soon as possible, it would get Android Automotive into its upcoming models. After three years, this promise has become a reality in the form of the Mégane E-Tech Electric crossover, which supports this system and the Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm is ticking in it.

You can buy a new electric car either with a battery with a capacity 40 kWh (range up to 300 km) with an output of 96 kW (130 hp) or more powerful 160 kW (218 hp) with a battery with a capacity of 60 kWh (range up to 470 km). The instrument panel has a 12.3 ″ display with a resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels. In the middle, you can choose between a 9 ″ display with a resolution of 1250 x 834 pixels or a 12 ″ panel with a resolution of 1250 x 1562 pixels.

It is on this display that you will see the Android Automotive system, in which you can give out voice Google Assistant commands, download third-party applications from the Play Store, or use other Google services. For example, such Google Maps will show you the chargers along with the charging time. The user interface as such consists of five main tabs – navigation, music, calls, profile switcher and vehicle settings. You can choose from 48 color backlights, for example.

At the bottom of the display, you always see the current temperature, fan settings and other information related to air conditioning. Unfortunately, the carmaker has not yet revealed prices and other technical specifications.
