Netflix bought its first own game studio -apkrig

When we wrote two days ago that Netflix had taken other interesting steps in the field of video games, we had no idea how soon we would return to this topic. Because the other activity of the streaming giant in this area is even more interesting. Netflix announced that it has bought the first game studio – the Night School Studio team, which created the games Oxenfree and Afterparty. This confirms the assumption that the company intends not only to offer foreign games as part of its subscription, but also to create its own exclusive content, similar to films and series.

Netflix said it will work with developers around the world to hire the greatest talent. They have to create an amazing collection of exclusive games designed for players of all kinds. The company reiterated that these titles will be part of the existing subscription for the same price and will not be burdened by any advertisements or micro-transcripts.

This is not the first contact of Night School Studio and Netflix. Together with Telltale Games, they were to work on the canceled game according to Stranger Things, which was to bridge the second and third seasons.

Both sides, of course, praise the new union. According to the developers, Netflix gives creators huge opportunities and supports storytellers like them. The authors are proud to have the privilege of being the first gaming studio under Netflix. At the same time, they are looking forward to continuing what they are doing and being part of the world’s largest entertainment platform. The streaming company is said to be committed to protecting the culture of the study and its creative vision.

Of course, work on Oxenfree II: Lost Signals continues, and it probably doesn’t change the fact that the game will be released next year on PC, PS4, PS5 and Switch. However, this may no longer be the case for another project. However, we do not yet know what the authors want to do. In addition, this is not the first contact of Night School Studio and Netflix. Together with Telltale Games, they were to work on the canceled game according to Stranger Things, which was to bridge the second and third seasons. But the title fell victim to Telltale’s problems. Night School Studio was founded in 2014 by Sean Krankel and Adam Hines. The hitherto independent team is based in California.

Netflix has released three more mobile games and expanded the list of supported countries

And if that’s not enough for you, Netflix has taken another interesting step in the world of video games. It has included three more mobile games in its offer and has opened the service to subscribers in other countries. After Stranger Things: 1984 and Stranger Things 3 he added the titles Shooting Hoops, Teeter (Up) and Card Blast. These are exclusive titles that have nothing to do with Netflix shows and are aimed at casual gamers. Android games are now available in Poland as well as in Italy and Spain, and users will find them directly in the Netflix application in the new section. But they are downloaded via Google Play.

However, Netflix continues to point out that it has only just begun researching the gaming environment with a subscription, and is taking the first important steps. In time, more countries and, of course, games for iOS are to be added. And then? Who knows…
