OnePlus Nord N20: the real iPhone for a low budget?
The first image of the new OnePlus Nord N20 is here and it all seems quite iPhone-esque. That’s not bad at all for its price.
OnePlus has kind of become what they wanted to destroy with the OnePlus 1. At the time, it was a relief in the world of expensive flagships to offer the same specs for little money. However, OnePlus was somewhat taken by the trends and the current flagships of OnePlus are on the level of competitor flagships in terms of price. In that respect, the Nord series is a new breath of fresh air. It’s kind of the iPhone SE from OnePlus: most of the flagship specs but with a friendlier price tag.
OnePlus North N20
Speaking of iPhones, as you could see in the title, OnePlus seems to be taking a few pages out of Apple’s booklet for the upcoming Nord N20. The design of the phone was made official by OnePlus and shared by PCMag. The Nord N20 goes from a round-shaped frame to an angular frame with right angles between back and side. A bit of what Apple has been doing (again) since the iPhone 12. Something else that OnePlus does, even if it’s not official at Apple yet: no camera island, but the cameras loose on the back of the glass. Furthermore, it is not an Apple clone: a large 6.43-inch FHD + screen that, except for a small double chin, fills the entire device at the front.
Upgrade or downgrade?
Speaking of that screen: the OnePlus Nord N20 can offer a cool novelty for its price range. The screen is an AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The latter may be disappointing, because the predecessor Nord N10 has a refresh rate of 90 Hz. According to the COO of OnePlus, this is due to the fact that the N10 was still an IPS LCD screen and that both AMOLED and 90 Hz are too expensive in this price range.
Price Packer
Prices are not yet known, but with a target price of 299 dollars for the Nord N10, it is expected that the OnePlus Nord N20 should not be very far above that. For that money, the N20 is a nice beast. For example, you get a fingerprint scanner under the screen and a 64 MP camera if we are to believe the photo. In terms of specs, it is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor, 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage memory. SuperVooc fast charging is also reportedly coming to the Nord N20.
To buy
The Nord N20 is planned for later this month. Then we know the official specs and the official price, because how good the OnePlus Nord N20 offers value for money naturally depends on that. To be continued.
