One in three men finds a fair division of roles at home ‘not necessary’

The idea that women take care of the children and do the housework while the man works is very old-fashioned. However? Unfortunately, the results from a study by Knab still shock us a bit.

Knab conducted a survey among 1,000 self-employed workers with children or a desire to have children. This showed that one in three men believe that the care for the children should not be divided equally between men and women.

Divide fairly

71 percent of the men indicated that they think care should be fairly distributed. That means that still one in three disagrees. That is still quite a high percentage. But fortunately there is also a contradiction. Nowadays, men find it increasingly important to have time off around the birth of their child. 42 percent of fathers who had a child during their entrepreneurship started working less during that time. This percentage is expected to rise in the coming years, because fathers have recently been able to take five weeks of maternity leave.

reassurance

When enterprising women get pregnant, most keep their customers and clients after their pregnancy. That is reassuring for these women. Although it is of course true that if this is not the case, that is not good either. Fortunately, legislation is also increasingly taking account of an equal division of roles, such as paid leave for fathers.
