No notifications on your Android? 13 ways to fix that

Sometimes your colleague talks to you on Google Meet and you don’t get a notification. ‘Hello are you there?’ follow it through whatsapp. Completely missed. And with a bit of bad luck you will also miss WhatsApp. Not every phone shows all notifications smoothly, but luckily there are ways to solve problems with notifications. We name 13.

1. Check whether the app is allowed to send notifications

Do you wonder why you get notifications from one app and not from another? Check with the app what the notification settings are. Maybe you never allowed it and the app keeps to that agreement. This is how you check it:

  1. Open the Institutions on your phone
  2. Go to notifications -> App settings
  3. Select the app you want to check
  4. Switch at the Standard settings in which messages the app should notify you

2. Turn off Do Not Disturb

Sometimes you don’t realize it, but Do Not Disturb mode is on. It is therefore logical that you do not receive any notifications: after all, this mode is made to ensure that you are not always disturbed by those notifications. Sometimes you turn it on before you go to sleep or before that important job interview, but then forget to turn it off. If you want notifications from certain apps, but otherwise remain in Do Not Disturb, you can do that too.

  1. Open the Institutions on your phone
  2. Select notifications
  3. Go to Do not disturb and select Applications
  4. Choose the apps that are allowed to interrupt you
  5. Select per app whether you allow all notifications, or only specific notifications (this differs per app)
