‘New MacBook Air 2022 coming later than expected’

It’s been almost a year since Apple released the M1 MacBook Air, which is amazingly fast. However, it seems that we will have to wait a long time for its successor. Apple is aiming for a release of the new MacBook Air at the end of 2022.

Read on after the ad.

MacBook Air 2022 Release

Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that the new MacBook Air will not be released until the third quarter of 2022. Mass production will start in the second or early third quarter. So it seems it will be at least another year before Apple releases a new Air.

A lot is expected of the new Air. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg – another reliable Apple insider – the new Air will have a ‘thinner and lighter’ casing. The USB port also returns: the MacBook Air would have two USB-4 ports.

Furthermore, the Magsafe charging connector returns. This is a charger that you magnetically connect to your MacBook. This prevents your MacBook from falling to the floor if you accidentally bump into the cable. There have also been rumors that the MacBook Air 2022 will be available in cheerful shades, similar to the iMac 2021. And no doubt Apple will put another powerful processor in it, possibly dubbed the M2.

Or the M1 MacBook Air?

So we have to wait a long time for the new MacBook Air, but the M1 version is still very good. The M1 chip is astonishingly fast; the Air is (almost) as powerful as its more expensive Pro brothers and can handle processor-intensive tasks. If you are ready for a new MacBook Air, then this is also a great time to buy one.

If you consider yourself a professional user, it pays to wait a little longer. Apple is rumored to release a newly designed MacBook Pro in October. According to rumors, it is equipped with a powerful M1X chip, gets extra connections (USB 4 and SD) and has a mini-LED screen.
