New features for Android and iOS

The Fritzbox manufacturer AVM has provided two of its apps with new functions. The Fritz App Fon for iPhones has new telephone technology, while the Fritz App WLAN for Android offers new measurements for wireless networks.

AVM: Fritz apps get new functions

Anyone who owns a Fritzbox has certainly taken a look at the provider’s apps. There is now a whole range available for Android smartphones and iPhones. The Berlin router manufacturer now has two of the apps brought up to date. Overall, the changes are limited, but the free download certainly doesn’t hurt.

the Fritz App Fon for iPhones is now available as version 5.0.0 in the App Store. The update brings the latest iOS technology for phone calls in the form of call signaling to the app (source: AVM). The prerequisite is FritzOS in version 7.20 or later on the accompanying Fritzbox. At least iOS 14 must be installed on the iPhone.

As usual, the Fritz app allows Fon at home to make telephone calls via the landline network and the Internet. The Fritzbox answering machine can also be tapped. The Android version of the app was updated a few days ago.

Fritz app WLAN for Android in a new version

The update for the Fritz App WLAN AVM has currently only released it for Android phones. The new version 2.12.0 offers as a highlight the display of the latency in the WLAN. This can be called up in the app via the “Measure WLAN” menu item. In addition, the display of the channel bandwidth of the current connection has been revised.
