New evidence for iPhone with periscope camera

Since the iPhone 13, there have been rumors that the iPhone will get a special ‘periscope lens’. Now new evidence has been found that this lens is on the way after all. Are we going to see this cool camera with the iPhone 14 already? You can read all about it in this article!

Read on after the ad.

Evidence for special periscope lens in iPhone

Apple visited Jahwa Electronics last year. This is a manufacturer that makes parts for the optical image stabilization of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (which already has a periscope lens).

The company has now indicated that it will build a new factory for camera parts. TheElec thinks these will be parts for the new periscope camera in the iPhone. Apple requires suppliers to make production lines only for the Cupertino company.

Periscope camera postponed: probably only in the iPhone 15

Earlier this month reported 9to5Mac based on a report by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that this new camera lens in the iPhone has been delayed until 2023. This is the year we expect the iPhone 15.

We have known about the periscope lens for the future iPhones for a long time. Submarines have been using this technique for a hundred years to peek above water. Now, new sources confirm that we will see a miniature version of the periscope in Apple’s future smartphones.

Unfortunately not yet in the iPhone 14 this year, but hopefully we will see this special lens in the iPhone 15. With this technique, Apple’s phone can zoom in very far. It also ensures that the iPhone can capture a natural depth of field (photos with a blurred foreground or background).

iPhone with a periscope in the camera, but why?

The iPhone has to get thinner and thinner, but the camera has to get a little better every time. That doesn’t really go together. Due to the narrow design, there is no room for a large lens. That is why this periscope lens is the solution, because the thin design is no longer a problem. After all, the lenses no longer have to be placed in a line in the housing.

A mirror reflects the incoming light at a 90 degree angle. Then the light reaches the camera sensor and software ensures that the orientation of your photo is completely correct.
