new button for the search function (and this is how you remove it)

The Spotlight search function has received a new button in iOS 16. iPhoned tells you where to find the new Spotlight button and how to remove it.

Read on after the ad.

iOS 16 Spotlight

Normally you open the Spotlight function on an iPhone with Face ID by swiping down on the center of the home screen. You will then immediately see the keyboard with the text box. This will remain the same in iOS 16, but you get another way to open the search function.

When you look at the home screen, you will see a row of dots on iOS 15 and earlier. By swiping over it, you can quickly scroll through the different pages of apps on your iPhone (and iPad). In iOS 16, the Spotlight button will be here soon and you will use this to open the search box. However, you can still scroll through the app pages with the same button by swiping over it.
